Chimney Caps
Jeff Alte Jr. Roofing installs several different types of chimney caps in a variety of different sizes. We install copper, stainless steel and black-painted galvanized steel caps to fit almost any chimney.
Chimney caps are designed to keep animals and other debris from getting into your home or building and to keep sparks from getting out. They also offer some degree of protection to the chimney from the elements.

Chimney Top
The masonry surface of your chimney is the "roof" of your chimney. It will take more punishment from the weather if there is no flu cap than any other section of the chimney. Water getting behind the brick and flu will promote cracking, mold growth and will loosen the brick leading to extensive masonry repairs. We recommend having new mortar applied to the top of your chimney every 5-10 years.
An inspection of your chimney top will let us know if a re coating of the surface is necessary. If so, we will protect your roof and landscaping, remove any loose mortar and apply a new coat of mortar to the entire top of your chimney.

Water Repellency
If you leave your chimney unprotected, overtime it will be susceptible to structural damage. We feel it is a very important part of preventative maintenance to apply a high quality water repellent like "Chimney Saver" to you chimney every 5 - 10 years.
Many sealers and silicone products will form a water resistant surface film which traps water vapors inside. These water vapors will eventual create spalling, deterioration and freeze-thaw damage. The product Jeff Alte Jr Roofing applies is 100% breathable and is a non-film forming water repellent that lines the masonry pores.
